David Amram: Beat Legend
David Amram is a Beat collaborator, a renaissance man of American music. He's best known as composer of the score for the landmark 1959 Beat film "Pull My Daisy," music which accompanies the narration by Jack Kerouac.
A pioneer player of jazz French horn, Amram is also a virtuoso on piano, drums, flutes and whistles, and he's also an improv lyricist and scat singer. DVD includes performances, speeches, and in-depth Washington Square Park interview.
Amram has composed over 100 orchestral and chamber works, written two operas, and wrote scores for theatre and films. He is author of three books, Offbeat: Collaborating With Kerouac ... Vibrations, an autobiography/memoir... and Upbeat: Nine Lives
of a Musical Cat.
